Where Wolves Wait For Weaker Sheep

Morning's cold and wet from rain sometime in the night. You and me, we didn't hear it at all. It must've been too light. 'Cause when the thunder 'round here rumbles, you make no mistake. Louder than the guns of war, guided by the hands of fate. The sheets are bare and twisted up, and salty with our sweat. I'd hoped to find you still around, but you'd already left. A door was slightly opened up to the frosty air. I guess you had somewhere to be as long as it was not here. You're always running, gunning for the top of the heap. I cannot be bothered, I will go back to my sleep. I will not be lured by promises you cannot keep. I will not lay down where wolves wait for the weaker sheep.

Paintings of powdered wigmen plastered on the wall. Lights from the rotunda glaring up and down the hall. I see you there on the staircase where we first met last fall. Was it romance when we danced at the Governor's Ball? I had to leave that evening, I had taken quite poor health. I couldn't let you see I was a man who had no wealth. I had a dime from time to time, but I cared not to dwell In foreign lands with devil'd hands, lest it become my knell. I started as a grifter charming women for their purse. I soon moved on to darker things, 'til I became the worst. And I cared not what became their lot and laid them in a hearse. Until I saw a thing of awe and strove to break my curse. It's gone on too long. I know it's wrong. Still, I sing my song. I sought help from every corner, but I was too impure. I visited a man of God, but he said I was obscured. A man like me saw me on my knees, and said there was no cure. "Forget thy sins, begin again, and no longer be unsure." So here I am this evening, waiting out the night. I'm sorry to surprise you, love, but you mustn't fright. Once you see the man in me, I know you will delight. To me you're trussed, and now you must bare it for the bite. It's gone on too long. I know it's wrong. Still, I sing my song.

Let's run away to a place where they don't know our names. Let's stay for a while and forget all the days are the same. Let's touch in the dark and throw some more wood on the flames. Let's never return to the way things once were. Who's to blame? This is forever. This is forever. I'll be by your side 'til the end. 'Cause this is forever. When you sleep do you dream of those terrible things? Will you forget all of the pain life can bring? Have you lost your voice, the one that used to sing? Can you feel through cuts and stings? This is forever. This is forever. I'll be by your side 'til the end. 'Cause this is forever. This is forever. I'll be by your side. 'Cause this is forever.

White Nights, or How I Protested the Conditions of an Inhumane World The stage is set, all the actors know their lines. It's a revolutionary act. The stage is set, all the actors know their lines. It's a revolutionary act of suicide. Mother, mother please don't do this. Mother, mother please don't do this. Lay down your life with your child, with your child. Mother please lay down your life. It's a fool who thinks he's winning when he's losing. I will lay my burden down. It's a fool who thinks he's winning when he's losing. I will lay my burden down, lay it down by the riverside. Mother, mother please don't do this. Mother, mother please don't do this. Lay down your life with your child, with your child. Mother please lay down your life. Just take a drink and go to sleep. Take our life from us, take a drink. Just take a drink and go to sleep. Take our life from us. We laid it down 'cause we got tired. Mother, mother please don't do this. Mother, mother please don't do this. Lay down your life with your child, with your child. Mother please lay down your life. Mother please lay down your life. If you want me to be your father, I am. And if you want me to be your brother, I am. And if you want me to be your neighbor, I am. And if you want me to be your savior, I am. And if you want me to be your father, I am. And if you want me to be your brother, I am. And if you want me to be your neighbor, I am. And if you want me to be your savior, I am. And if you want me to be your father, I am. And if you want me to be your brother, I am. And if you want me to be your neighbor, I am. And if you want me to be your savior, I am. And if you want me to be your god, I... The Prick and The Sting The needle on the bed, Where you once laid your head. The Prick and The Sting, The nothing you bled. Once was enough, Sleep when you're dead. And you feel it, And you feed it, And you feel it ain't never enough. Your blood makes you this way, Never know what to say. The Prick and The Sting, Words gone astray. Once was enough, A truth to betray. And you feel it, And you feed it, And you feel it ain't never enough. The urge, it takes hold, To have and to mold. The Prick and The Sting, The weakness now bold. Once was too much, Your premise unfolds. And you feel it, And you feed it, And you feel it ain't never enough.
